My daughter turned me onto this series. She was telling me about book 15. We laughed so much I decided to start the series.I can’t think of anything that needs changing in the story. Of course the story is fictional, but if vampires were real and had the same personalities that they had while living, everything in the story is reasonable:) I don’t like to tell the story in a review. That takes away the pleasure of reading the book. I will tell you that it contains every emotion. It is a comedy that has you laughing. It is suspenseful and has you biting your nails. It is a love story that takes you through all the emotions of a love that Shanna did not think would have a chance. It took you through Roman’s heart break with his fear of losing her. His fear that she might hate him enough to kill him. It included friendships between a couple of mortals and vampires that were touching. I loved this story.

How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire Love at Stake Book 1 Kerrelyn Sparks 9780060751968 Books Reviews
I read this series several years ago in paperback, beginning out of order with book 5 or 6. I loved that one so much I went back & read from the beginning. Recently, the version of this one came up on sale & I snatched it up to do a re-read. Shanna & Roman are fun & sweet, and each have some issues to get over and hurdles to jump over. Their relationship continues to grow throughout the series, and so I would call the end of this book a HFN because we get to see their HEA progress book to book.
I love the personalities & world we're introduced to in this story! It sets up very well for the series, and I can't wait to do a re-read of the other books!! )
Roman was a priest when he was turned 500 years ago. The guilt he has felt since has been driving him to make up for his cursed state. Into this situation he breaks a fang and needs a dentist. A dentist who's in a lot of trouble and needs saving as only a vampire can do.
Bursts of humor liven up the story while most of the characters are interesting. Our heroine becomes a bit annoying as she seems oblivious to all the vampiric activities around her. I often wonder why the hero falls in love with such misguided females, but she redeems herself later. On the other hand our hero is beating himself up with guilt. A couple meant for each other indeed.
Lots of danger and action. Nice.
*Spoilers* I really hate it when an author selects an advanced vocation for her heroine, and then has that character act completely dumb. Shanna is a dentist, so we're talking advanced education, yet it takes her an unbelievable amount of time to figure out what is going on with the hero. She says and does completely ignorant things. Also, making the hero a 500 year old priest doesn't allow for much in the way of steamy scenes. This couple has aborted sex multiple times before he, a virgin vampire, finally consummate the relationship near the END of the book. The pacing is glacial. Eight chapters just to get through the first 24 hours of the plot. The final battle is anticlimactic. Little of the plot is a surprise and the emergence of her father abruptly near the end with his ludicrous small special CIA team is baffling. We're given only a cursory explanation of why Shanna has unique mental abilities or even how her father inherited (?) these skills. Most of the characters are tired stereotypes, especially the Russian villain who is easily defeated in the end. I gave the book two stars because near the beginning, the author did inject some sharp humor. Frankly, I'm shocked that this book received so many good ratings. I've been reading all genres of romantic fiction since I was eleven, and this particular book just isn't that good.
This book doesn't seem to like women at all - I swear even the ones that show up for just a page and have two whole lines complain about chocolate making them fat, like that's the only thing women can all agree on. Characters are unbelievable (I mean as people - not in terms of the fantasy setting) and unlikable, and the vampire lore doesn't even make sense within itself - they can levitate but not fly? And they can teleport but only if they're on the phone, except sometimes they don't have to be on the phone? They can communicate psychically except it's not very private except sometimes it is? You can read it fast, so it has that going for it I guess. I feel like a learned a lot about what this author thinks other women can relate to - and I guess I just can't.
This book was very good & had some sex scenes; but it also had some humorous scenes too. Not enough to make me laugh but enough to make me smile.
Roman is the founder of Romantech & the company makes synthetic blood for not only humans but vampires too. He also makes different flavors of the synthetic blood to cater to the vampires especially those who miss eating or drinking chocolate. One night as his fellow vampires who also work for Romantech had him try one of their experiments he loses a gang.
Shanna is in the Witness Protection Program after witnessing a murder spree in a store; but she still had the same profession & it's that of a Dentist. The night she was working at an all night dentistry she meets Roman when he comes in to get his gang put back in. That is also the night that her cover was blown.
They both were immediately attracted to each other but we're fighting it especially as they were trying to hide her from the hit men.
This book to me had lots of action, men in kilts, vampires, had a good vs bad plot & a HEA. I will also be reading the next book in this series as this is another series particularly this book in fact that has been on my mind lately. I had previously read some of the books in this series but not all; so, I also need a refresher in this series. I had also not previously written a review on this book &/or series which I now plan to do.
