Heart Change A Celta Novel Robin D Owens Books
At the beginning of the story, Signet is very depressed. Signet's family members are deceased, her friends are gone, her flair is unfocused and unexplainable, and her life seems bleak and futureless. Enter the prophet Vinni, who wants Signet to assist his HeartMate Avellana through her magical passages. Avellana had an accident as a child, and consequently, her brain patterns are damaged. Vinni fears for her life, but with his visions, Vinni sees that Signet can save Avellana. Avellana's family installs her in the mansion and also sees that Signet and Avellana are guarded by Cratag Maytree. Cratag is a diamond in the rough - a strong, supportive man with limited flair, but loyal and a warrior to the bone. Signet quickly realizes that Cratag is her Heartmate. The story is basically about Avellana's crisis with her passage and the love between Signet and Cratag.Lately, I haven't been reading too much. It seems that my old standby authors are heading in directions I don't particularly care for, i.e., Linda Howard with romantic suspense, and some of my other favorite authors are stretching their series way too far - further than the story can hold your interest, i.e., L.K. Hamilton's Merry series. Still other favorite authors' books seem forced (Nora Roberts) or just plain scattered. Perhaps it's me, but lately, the publishing world doesn't seem to know how to leave the authors alone to tell a really good story. Heart Change is the first book in a while that I started reading and read through within a day or so. It held my interest, and it was a sweet, pleasant story - no overwhelming emo and angst, as some of the stories lately. It was well-written and definitely worth the money and time.
If there are any complaints at all, I felt the ending was rather sudden. I would have liked the story to just continue into the evening and into the Heart Bond. I also would have liked a tad more interaction between Signet and Cratag, but that is a minor complaint. I definitely saw what Signet loved in Cratag, but didn't know what Cratag saw in Signet. He was very focused on her First Family status the entire book, and sometimes I felt that was all he saw, but I still was content that they were in love with each other and felt it was a good match.

Heart Change A Celta Novel Robin D Owens Books Reviews
This was a solid addition to the Heartmate series. The central story focuses on two characters introduced in previous books and sets the stage and reveals more about what is in store for two younger chracters who have central reoccuring roles in the overall series. If you want to get an introduction to the series this is not the best book to start with but for those who have read some of the others its a nice continuation. The two main charaters are mature, have experienced challenges in life and are a good contrast to the relationship of the younger couple so there is a nice balance of romantic experiences. All in all this is a nice relaxing weekend read and a good continuation of the Celta mythology.
Really enjoyed this story. Signet and Cratag are both well developed and thoughful characters. Liked the combination with Vinni and Avellana. Only real complaint is no heartbonding links/connection was hinted at while Signet and Cratag are intimate. Even with little flair would have thought that the bonding would have been mentioned. Previous stories had multiple offerings by the one who knows about the Heartmate. Not sure why Signet did not send this offer to Cratag. It has been awhile since I have read one of these, was it only the guys that could offer the heartbonding links? Don't know if this was to support Laev making a mistake / not being able to discuss Heartmates with Cratag?
But other than this, really did enjoy and thought it was a very readable and strong story.
I always enjoy a quick trip to Celta (and am really looking forward to Heart Legacy soon), but the direction of this one surprised me. I rather liked having Vinnie confounded by his overly optimistic nature in that scene on the cliffside - and I can sense that Avellana is going to be that bit of unpredictability that will keep him sane. But that's a sideline, the actual book is about Cratag and Sygnet. an unlikely pairing, but it works well. It is rather a nice trip to see a Very feminine girl and how she can tame an almost overly macho man, without having to try too hard.
I love Celta and the Heartmate Romances. They keep getting better and this is one I really enjoyed. Cratag Maytree has been one of my favorite characters since Heart Duel. I am glad he finally got his own story.
Cratag is a member of Lord Hawthorne's household, he is head of his guard. As a lesser member of the family he feels he has finally made a place for himself. When he is asked to guard Avellana Hazel, the young heartmate of T'Vine, as she faces her First Passage, a trial to release some of her flair. He must also protect Signet D'Marigold who is a catalyst. He feels betrayed by T'Hawthorne. But he has been attracted by the quiet, morose, beauty of Signet. Nevertheless, he prepares to do his best to protect the ladies.
Signet is alone. She is the last of the Marigolds. Today is her birthday she is 30 and still doesn't know what her flair is. T'Vine arrives to tell her he knows what her flair is and he needs her help. Avellana is his heartmate, he is the premier foreteller on Celta. He knows that she is his heartmate although he is only 13 and she is only 7. He also knows she may not live through her first passage without the help of Signet, who is a catalyst. Which is an unknown flair and one never seen before.
Although Signet has fears of abandonment, because of the loss of her parents and her grandmother, she is drawn to Cratag and he is drawn to her even tho there is a great difference in their backgrounds. Both fight the attraction while trying to save the life of an adorable little girl. Avellana has strong flair and Signet must be stronger to guide and protect her.
I love these books and wouldn't miss a one. Do not miss this great trip to a world that I wish was real.
